76 - Names with and without The ( first part)

We do not use " the " with names of people ( João Batista and not " the João Batista"). In the same way, we do not normally use ' the " with names of places. For example:

Continents - Africa, Europe, South America ( never "The Africa")
Countries - France , Argentine, Brazil ( not "The Brazil" )
States, regions etc - Texas, São Paulo,Central Europe ( not " the Texas " )
Islands - Corsica, Sicily , Bermuda - ( not ' the sicily" )
Cities, towns - Cairo, Rio de Janeiro , Madri - ( never ' the Rio de Janeiro")
Mountains - Corcovado, Everest , Kilamanjaro - ( not " the kilamanjaro")
